My Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2012

In the eight online hours I spend five days a week at the office and a few more on weekends at home, there is no single day that I haven't stumbled upon a blog of any kind whenever I google stuff for reliable information and up-to-date reviews. As a matter of fact I have several blogs I literally stalk and check everyday sometimes more frequent than my own blog!

While I admit up to now I still struggle about the technicalities of blogging and the challenges of keeping "afloat" I admire the bloggers behind these who are starting to make big waves out there. These blogs can be compared to a few good books though stashed in the highest space on top of the drawer, the readers never get tired of reaching those because of the worth. These blogs are ot all from the pioneers who knew the tricks already but a good number are from the new ones who exactly knew how to take advantage of the immeasurable privileges of blogging and social media today. Below is my top ten emerging infuential blogs of 2012:

If there is a search for  Top Emerging Influential Blog of 2012, this will definitely my pick. The layout and design, strong presence of its social media followers and a live videoblog. I have joined an event which Rappler discussed about pioneering an online citizen journalism through this blog founded by veteran journalists led by Maria Ressa.

Foydi's Treasure Hunt
First thing that caught my attention is the blog design. I am always fascinated with anything about ethnic / indigenous style.  We share the same topics : travel, culture and heritage. Definitely to look forward  to keep on getting back to this blog.

Life after Breakfast
The first time I read the title I got dragged to think why it was named that way. But I did not wondered so much because this is about art and craft! A graphic desinger blogger who owns a vegetarian resto and once a mobile art school... wow!  I did a quick scroll down of the homepage it is oozing with creativity.

Toned down and vintage
I love the blog's vintage style but still sounds fabulous. I also love the blogger's sense of writing which is you-got-to-read-between-the-lines-to-get-what-she-means style. She is also not the narcissistic type of personal blogs who swamps the readers of her profile pictures that looked like the blog is already a personal album. Love it!

Intramuros. asia
Intramuros is listed as one of the world's vanishing and irreparable historical sites. As an advocate of our country's culture and heritage, I feel glad that there is a particular website just dedicated to Intramuros. I hope to see more projects related to the preservation of Intramuros more than the usual promotion of the tours.

The talking senses
I love the fluffy, catchy and words with hints of femininity in this blog. There is one more instead of following the usual tags and labels she creates her own array of words which can maybe at one time can confuse the reader but  in the name of creativity for me.

Pinaythrillseeker
A big chunk of blogs that I see every now and then is about travel. Since I also have an itchy feet I scour the web for female courageous and fellow solo travelers. I can see from this blog a very promising and the blogger's youthful energy radiates in every word she writes. Just bookedmarked it and yes go girl!

Kim of the world
I have heard him talk during the iBlog8 Philippine Summit so I don't need to bombard this blogger a thousand words to vouch that he has really something to say when it comes to SEO, internet marketing & blogging tips etc. Yes we got lots of  articles about these written by foreigners but it is also better reading topics like this from a local's perspective like kaiserthesage and SEO hacker. Just knowing that they are fellow Filipinos there is this instant connection when reading their posts.

The purple doll
Like travel blogs, food blogs also occupy a big chunk in the blogosphere. Just because you know how to eat, it does not mean you can be a food blogger in an instant. This blog is one of the few. I love the purple color and has an eye to find "not-so-known" restos out there. I can see really the efforts from the words that she writes and I so love the photos. Makes me think I might probably not dine with a food blogger.  Imagine like after the food is served, you will have to wait forever while she/he takes a picture for blogging purposes.

Between coordinates
I love the blogger's style of writing which is very "vernacular" like she is just talking right in front of you. The fact that this blog has goals to achieve like visiting all the provinces of the country or tour the world when she gets 30 amazes me. This means that this blog is not the kind of just blogging only when there is something to write about but has concrete plans to keep going and make it happen.

I was thinking not to include any blogs about travel and food because they are sprouting as many as mushrooms whenever rain falls but I still see a few standing out from the rest. I am hoping to see more blogs who are into travel and food but with certain advocacies like travelling with purpose, not just going to a place but doing something or leaving something in particular or reviewing food not just to tell the price and taste but what is it's health benefits, impacts or risks etc.

This writing project will not be possible without the support of sponsors such as Tof Salcedo, Philippine Data Center, Philippine Online Shopping, Manila Standard Today, DigitalFilipino Club and Search Profile Index.

  1. I agree with Intramuros.Asia, Pinay Thrillseeker, and the Purple Doll. They're great blogs in their own, different niches! But what's wrong with the previous comments here? You got spam?
