Palawan, The World’s Best Island Showcases Tourism and Trade Fair From Aug 7 - 11, 2015 In Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive Makati

The Province of Palawan will always have a special place in my heart, I went there on a solo backpacking adventure during my birthday in 2012. I first spent a few days in Puerto Princesa where I visited the UNESCO listed Puerto Princesa Underground River then took a 5-hour van drive to see the beach paradise in El Nido.  Fellow blogger Evo invited me too see his province Palawan dubbed as the World’s Best Island to showcase Tourism and Trade Fair from Aug 7 - 11, 2015 In Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive Makati. I have to check out this since I really miss this place and dreaming of going back here too.

There I learned more of Palawan so much aside from its pristine beaches and also able to brush shoulders with their local government unit officials. In an effort to boost Palawan’s investment environment, the Province of Palawan formally launched its World’s Best Island campaign through a five-day travel fair at the heart of Makati’s business district Friday afternoon. Gov. Jose Ch. Alvarez and Vice Gov. Victorino Dennis M. Socrates led the opening ceremony of the event dubbed as “Palawan: World’s Best Island Tourism and Trade Fair,” an off-shoot of a collaborative effort between the Provincial Government, Palawan Tourism Council, Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Promotions Board and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Advancing Philippine Competitiveness (COMPETE) project. Alvarez and Socrates were joined by DOT Mimaropa Regional Director Atty. Minerva Morada, Palawan Tourism Council president Debbie Tan, key officials of the province and USAID representatives.

This first-ever tourism and trade fair initiated by the Provincial Government aims to capture a wider tourism market, create broader awareness for Palawan, and bring together local and foreign investors, economic development organizations and high level government officials for greater business-matching opportunities. The Province targets 3-million arrivals by 2016. Local government units, top resorts and hotels as well as tour operators from Palawan joined the event to showcase products and services.

Visitors can avail as much as 70% discount on products and services including top resorts such as El Nido Resorts, Princesa Garden Island Resort and Spa, The Funny Lion Inn, Microtel by Wyndham, Club Paradise, Dos Palmas, Ipil Suites, Blue Palawan, Two Seasons Resort, One Manalo Place, Huma Island Resort and Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort. AirAsia, the official airline partner of the World’s Best Island campaign, will be offering low fares. “This is a cooperative effort of the Public-Private-Partnerships which will ultimately bring Palawan to the forefront of economic development,” said Maribel Buñi, Chief Tourism Operations Officer of the Provincial Government of Palawan.

To those who are planning to go to Palawan, this is the best time to catch the most affordable packages from flight to accommodation to tour packages.  I had fun knowing how rich Palawan is.  I also appreciated the last leg of the program where they showcased Palawan's folk dances. Will blog about it soon :)
