I don't know how to cook, it's a shame I know. Though now that I'm on my 30's and the probability of settling down is nearer (if I meet Mr. Right), I have been thinking about learning how to cook. For an uber busy person like me, the best way is to enroll in a culinary school. Though I have no idea how will I squeeze that time in my super tight schedule! Speaking of, some time ago I had a chance to visit a culinary school in Makati called Academy of Pastry and Bakery Arts Philippines for their second anniversary. Truth is, I am a bit curious what goes on in a pastry slash culinary school.

Time is more precious than gold to me. I make sure in every event, I arrive before or on time. In this event, I was the second blogger out of the 15 invited. I knew 6pm is a peak hour in Makati so I left ahead to avoid traffic. The moment I entered the building, I noticed the extra cold temperature from the aircons. I worked in BPO's before so I know the feeling of getting "freezed", this one though is the same if not one notch higher. Later, I learned that the reason why culinary school like this need to be extra colder to make sure the food's shelf life is extended longer. This is specially vital to this bakery school in Manila because they specialize in chocolates and anything sweet!

It was 7:30 pm when the Academy of Pastry and Bakery Arts Philippines' celebration formally started. It was a short program acknowledging the students who just graduated and sharing the good memories of what it's like to be learning the ropes of being a pastry chef, their upcoming internship to Malaysia. We also had a chance to know the world-class and award winning resident and full time chefs of this school! They don't have one or two but a a handful of world-renowned chefs  mentoring their students.

Of course, we had a chance to splurge on anything sweet. Gosh, I thought I had a sugar overload after haha! Some of those we tasted are intermediate chocolates & pralines, apricot passio pate de fruit, raspberry star anise praline, macaroons and cassis caramel,
We went to the rooms where they cook stuff. Judging from what I saw, their facilities are new and of course very clean. I can really attest that their culinary school here in the Philippines is of high standards.

They have a very credible list of full time programs you can enroll: Basic Certificate Program (3-months course that include petite gateau, basic french pastries etc), Diploma Program (6-months course that include sugar art, wedding cakee, chocolate display etc) and Advanced Diploma Program (9-months course plus 1 month free international training in Malaysia).

If you are a foodie at heart who wants to be a chef, I suggest enroll at Academy of Pastry and Bakery Arts Philippines. They also have parti time certificate programs for breads, breakfast pastries, tart and quiches, chocolates, cukcakes, cheesecake and petit gateau, classic cakes, wedding cake, plated desserts, cookies and travel cakes. Who knows, working in the kitchen or at the favorite restaurant of your dream hotel is just a class away at this pastry school?
