My First Impressions of Asus Zenfone 4 Max - First Timer's Review

I am super excited to go back to Irosin, my hometown in two weeks from now. It's been over a year since I last went home. I chose the month of September because this is the time of the year when we celebrate our fiesta and Paray (rice) Festival. I want to help our town to spread the word out in terms of tourism wearing my hat as a blogger.  What even made me more excited about it is that I have an official mobile phone that I will use to capture lots of photos and memories along the way! Cool, right? It's an Asus Zenfone 4 Max, one of the latest mobile phone models available in the country today. It's been a few days only since I started using it so I am in the process of getting to know it inside and out. This post is more of sharing my first impressions rather than a full blast Asus Zenfone 4 Max blog review which I will do soon.

Introduction to Asus Zenfone 4 Max

It's one of the latest models belonging to Asus' Zenfone lineups that include Zenfone 4 for versatile performance and Zenfone 4 Selfie for best selfie camera. Zenfone 4 Max carries the flag for having a super long life battery. 

What's in Asus Zenfone 4 Max

There are lots of mobile phone brands in the country today. Please see below the list of some of the most basic specifications of Asus Zenfone 4 Max.  I hope this will guide you to get to know this phone better and who knows get one too!

1. Asus Zenfone 4 Max is made of a high capacity 5000mAh battery

As a blogger, social media manager, digital marketer and a self proclaimed online geek, I can't live without my mobile phone. It's a tool for me to get my work done. For instance, my other cell phone brand, I charge it twice to thrice a day. With this phone, it's my 3rd day already, it is still up and running! Of course it depends though what apps do you use - videos of course is another story.

2. Asus Zenfone 4 Max features an advanced dual camera system

This is for those who are into photography and fellow Instagrammers. It's equipped with two types of cameras. The main one is 13 megapixels and equipped with F2.0 aperture lens to capture clearer photos. The other one is designed to capture a 120-degreee wide angle camera to fit more scenery and people in the frame.

If you notice, these photos are all portrait because I post all images on Instagram this way. On Facebook however, they say photos posted on landscape works the best. Also on blogs like the layout of my theme. I'm yet to post good looking 120-degree wide photos for Asus Zenfone 4 Max, stay tuned. That's the next goal when my trip starts :)

3. Asus Zenfone 4 Max helps you capture the perfect selfie

For selfie addicts and especially those who got no time to retouch their face, good news. This mobile phone acts like your instant Photoshop. Its  camera is equipped with Softlight LED flash that delivers the perfect amount of fill light. When used properly, your photo shows you at your best skin tone and gives you a glowing complexion.  

The truth is I am not a selfie person because as you know I got a not-so perfect set of teeth and some lines on my forehead. A selfie is way too near my face (see the right picture), it just emphasizes my flaws.

With Zenfone 4 Max, I have a chance to choose two options: 16:9 and 4:3 distance from the phone. I'm now super confident to pose a selfie (see the left picture) using the 4:3 and still look good.

Not only that, their is a beauty mode option that instantly retouches face to remove blemishes and to look like the face of a highly-maintained model. I personally enjoyed experimenting my looks for these four options: skin softening, eyes enhancement, skin brightening and cheeks thinning. It's just a matter of choosing from 0 to 10 to have a "Belofied" face.

Tried to enlarge my eyes a bit, up to you to decide whether this made me look better or you prefer my original self. Though, I was looking for the "bokeh" capability - the process of making the background or foreground blurred so as to highlight the chosen subject much more. Hope they add this in their next Zenfone models.

4. Asus Zenfone 4 Max is your powerbank too

This phone is such a beast when it comes to battery that it can be used to charge other mobile phone devices.. You just need to connect your phone to the Zenfone 4 Max using the USB On-the-go cable that comes free with the package. 

According to the official website of Asus, "by turning on the double battery lifespan feature, it means your device can fully charge (to 100%) and discharge (to 0%) up to 500 times in a 25°C environment, and the loss of battery capacity will be reduced by half." I'm yet to try this one but wow, this is the kind of innovation that every mobile phone should have!

Asus Zenfone 4 Max is bigger and a bit heavier compared to other mobile phones. You need a bigger pocket or much better to put it in a pouch inside your bag.

It's also a fast charging tool. It only takes 3 hours and 15 minutes to get full charged. If you're not using the phone that much it can last up to 91 hours before you charge it again.

Asus Zenfone 4 Max got a pretty big memory too. It supports up to 256 gigabytes on microSD card and it's dual sim.  Zenfone 4 Max isn't just a "pretty face" only, it is powered with 12 leading technologies to make sure that its user are protected from any untoward incidences such as short circuit, sudden temperature change, output over current and a lot more.


The most awaited question, how much?
Php 9, 995 only. 

I cannot wait to bring this on the road with me to get things done!  And since I am a Gong Yoo fan, I really need to emphasize this. Seeing his face in Asus' campaigns brings joy to my heart.
