They say when you want something so bad, the universe conspires to make it happen. True enough, just a week before my big trip to Taiwan - something came that I never expected. A brand new phone! I have been really thinking of saying goodbye to my bulky DSLR unit because it is a burden to me because it is heavy whenever I'm on a trip. Also, I am slowly incorporating videos to capture real feelings and memories so I needed a phone that has a bigger storage as well.

Of course, for every new gadget received the unboxing comes next. Before I do that, let me tell you that I am a travel blogger by heart so please do not expect that kind of a flashy review  from a good-looking host with perfect English you'll see on GadgetMatch. I'm no tech blogger too so what I will tell you is an honest feeling of someone who simply wants to get a mobile phone that will help my life easier in many aspects specifically about photos, videos and getting connected online.

It is super handy, light and like other Asus Zenfone units, it's a battery beast - perfect for those who cannot live without checking their phones a thousand times a day.  I am an Android user all my life until recently I got this Apple phone brand but you'll always find yourself looking for things you've used for so long.

Verdict about Asus Zenfone Max M1

To tell you the truth, the looks didn't impress me that much. I got the Deepsea black which is very ordinary in color and shape. Glossy, pastel-like and gold colors are the ones that would please my eyes when it comes to  phone colors but then again it's the unit's performance inside that I think Asus Zenfone Max M1 is the real deal.  

I know Asus Zenfones are notorious as battery beasts - I can't emphasize that enough. This unit has been open for 3 days already for moderate use since I have a phone that I use prior to receiving this package but as early as now I am surprised that it is at 53% only! I think I still have two more days to enjoy this unit without recharging it.

Here are my top reasons why this unit seemed like a gift from above:

• It has 2 sims. my current phone has only one sim holder. Friends and family belong to different networks. I can't convince them to transfer to one data network so this is the answer!
• Camera has wide angle capability and beauty features. I am a self-confessed photo addict and forever hunting for the best Instagrammable places. Using the wide angle lens, Asus Zenfone Max M1 captures 200% more of the background of the photo. How cool is that?  The beauty feature on the camera app also let's me post more close to flawless photos of myself.  Love it!
• It is my first time to learn of an Android phone having a fingerprint sensor for added security. I use my phone so much for a lot of business transactions that involve money and I care a lot about privacy in terms of my personal space.
