The best Mexican restaurant in BGC!
It's Friday night - gimmick time for everyone. We were hesitant to eat out but we ended up doing it anyway. My American boyfriend who loves to eat in restaurants every dinner (we eat in a good restaurant) 4-5 a week wanted to try another one that he has never been too. The weather is also unpredictable so we really want something within his area. If you're looking for a restaurant in BGC serving Texas Mexican cuisine, check Gringo Restaurant in BGC.
The location
We came from Fort Victoria which is just a few streets away but we still used his motorcycle since we were running to catch the reservation time we chose via a restaurant booking app. Gringo Restaurant is along the road - it is very easy to find. It's super near to the famous Burgos Circle.
The restaurant
Gringo Restaurant in BGC is not the typical grand restaurant we have been however it has a vibe of a fine dining restaurant in Manila. For a budget conscious individual, Gringo Restaurant may not be their top choice but hey, that's our first impression gone wrong. I have said this so many times, I am an old soul. Gringo Restaurant's ambiance is this perfect place for me. The bathroom, its mirror and the sink looks like the ones in grandma's house.
The food
What we ordered
1 Mango Chicken Salad (Php 235)
1 Buffalo Chicken Taquitos ( Php 265)
1 Clam Chowder Soup (Php 185)
1 Hardys White Whine (Php 200)
1 Merlot Red Wine (Php 200)
2 San Mig Lights (Php 150)
The Mango Salad
The Mango Salad
First, we love that it was served on a wooden bowl. We were surprised of the huge amount of serving. Usually salads are 70% greens and 30% meat. We aren't vegetarians - we want fair amount of portion of each. Gringo Restaurant's Mango Salad is composed of slices of roast chicken on a bed of fresh veggies from Esperanza's garden. I wish all of the salad I am going to eat is stuffed with fresh chunks of mango! The boyfriend ate it all.
Clam Chowder Soup
I have a thing about hot soups that's why I didn't think twice to order. Guess what, it was the best decision I have ever made! The soup is so creamy and heavy to my stomach - I couldn't ask for more. The bread served is so crispy. I am not knowledgeable of the types of breads but this one is so far the luxurious version. I have only tasted clam chowder soups in my life: one from S & R and this one. No doubt, Gringo Restaurant has the best version.
Buffalo Chicken Taquitos
We were a bit disappointed of this third dish we ordered. We feel like this taquitos should come with a type of sauce. The taste is so - so like the wrapper is thick enough but the inside has small serving of chicken meat. We like though that same with clam chowder soup, this one was served warm.
GRINGO - CHICKEN RIBS FRIENDS MENU
Gringo Restaurant has a decent amount of Mexican food on their menu. For starters, they have chili con carne, nacho grande, garlic calamari and baked mussels. When we come back, we'll surely try their signature dish Gringo Original Chicken or Gringo Southern Spice Chicken. They also have baby back ribs which is home-style barbeque sauce and Pablo's signature marinade. Whew, now it is so hard to choose what to order the next time we go to Gringo's Restaurant BGC.
What is the point of eating in a Mexican restaurant without eating its local dishes? I will surely add burritos, quesadillas, street tacos and crispy taco too. As wine lovers, we love the red and white wine. For Php 200 of one glass, we think it is reasonably priced.

I don't think so.
Is there a parking area?
Yes. The fee is Php 50. We were able to find a paid parking in a nearby building but I forgot the name. You can ask around.
I would also like to special mention the guy who took our order. He has been very attentive all throughout our dining experience. We have eaten in so many restaurants that the servers are too busy to do their stuff, you'll have to call their attention if you need to add more order or bring a glass of ice. Him, he was going back and forth checking how is the food and if we need anything else.
