3 Tips to installing a home weather station



There are times when one needs to have accurate local weather information so that they can plan for the days ahead as well as make plans for the current day. One of the best ways to do this is by installing a home weather station. You will definitely find it easy to install the weather station of this is not the first time you are doing it. For the people who will be installing the weather station for the first time, it would be good for them to ask for advice in their installation. You will need to ensure that you have installed the weather station at the right place. The right position should also be taken into consideration. 

So, what are some of the things one needs to consider when they are installing an outdoor weather station? In this article, we shall discuss some of the things one needs to have in mind as they install a weather station at home. 

Here are 3 tips to help you install a weather station at home: 

1. Temperature and sensor for humidity It is important that you install your weather station in the right way. You can use an arm mount or a tripod to install it. If you have a fencepost or a flag post, you can install the station on these. Your weather station should be able to access the humidity and the sensor for it to be said to be accurate enough. The temperature sensor should not be exposed to the direct sunlight. It should be shielded. It is also important that you take care of the housing shield of the thermometer so that is well ventilated. If you have a radiation shield, the better for you; if not, you can as well use an aluminum sheet. 

2. The anemometer This is a very important instrument in a weather station. It measures the speed of the wind. As such, for you get the most accurate readings, the instrument should be properly installed. It should be installed in a clear level area where there are no obstructions. In case of any tall object, the anemometer should be installed 7 feet above it. If you will install this instrument on top of a building, then it should be installed as high as possible. It should be installed in such a way that it is easy to access and maintain. You should use GPS or a digital compass for easy calibration of the instrument. 

3. Rain gauge tips The rain gauge can be quite complicated when one needs to install it for the most accurate data. You should beware of trees, tall buildings and trees and other objects that can negatively influence the accuracy of the results. The orifice of this instrument should be above the level at which in splashing for the rain takes place.
