Nightlife and Restaurant Guide to Puerto Galera

Where to eat in Puerto Galera? I and K are foodies so it means a lot to us to know the best restaurants in Puerto Galera. Also, we wanted to know the bars and clubs of Puerto Galera worth going because what's a visit there without doing a bit of partying? However, we were so busy doing errands a day before the trip and not to mention this trip is is unplanned from the beginning.

For you guys out there who are planning to go to Puerto Galera this summer, we're saving a bit of your time by sharing to you the the restaurants and bars we personally visited in Sabang beach mostly and a bit in White Beach in Puerto Galera.

RECOMMENDED BARS IN PUERTO GALERA

1. Bikini Floating Bar
Yes, you read it right! Bikini Bar is the one and only floating bar in Puerto Galera that operates 24/7 or as long as there are people drinking alcohol! We saw Bikini Bar literally floating just a few meters away from the shore of Sabang beach. In order to get there, you need to ride (free) on a small boat for just a few minutes only. It's a small boat but made of two floors. The millennial girls serving drinks are not wearing bikinis when we went there however they were wearing skimpy attires like super short shorts and beach bras. It is mostly expats who hang out there. We were so lucky that night one Western guy rang the bell! This means all of us on the boat have a free drink of his choice (usually a cheap beer) that will be paid by him. We only ordered a light and super dry beer here. I am not sure but they do not serve food - only drinks.

We were told to get drunk at Bikini Floating Bar in the daytime where you can see the view of the sea. Everything is pitch black during the night - you won't enjoy the beach scene.

2. Big Apple Bar and Restaurant
We love Big Apple Bar and Restaurant because it is beachfront. Who wouldn't complain about drinking your chilled glass of wine or eating a big a** pizza with the view of the sea? We ate here twice despite the plan of not going back to the same restaurant because we want to discover good restaurants in Puerto Galera as much as we can. Owned by Big Apple Dive Resort, this is another foreigner-dominated restaurant. It is a big restaurant with ample chairs and tables. There are a few tables of billiards too. I had a glass of red wine, K had a bottle of beer. Price is right.

3.  Eddie's Place Bar and Restaurant
Slightly smaller than Big Apple, Eddie's Place is also one of the good pubs we can recommend in Sabang beach of Puerto Galera. It is also a dominated by foreigners however, I find Big Apple more desirable because the many different kinds of chairs you can choose to sit and the atmosphere is really lively. Eddie's Place lacks the art of pleasing the customers eyes but the food is great! Price is also affordable for someone who has budget to splurge on a vacation.

Special Mention to the String of Bars along White Beach
Though Sabang beach has neverending list of bars and restaurants, I would say White Beach is still the best for nightlife in Puerto Galera. On our last night, we made sure to visit the White Beach to see the outdoor free live performances of gay comedians. Each bars have its own gimmick like gay performers or singers of all ages doing funny or crazy acts to attract guests and hopefully buy their drinks and food while they watch.

The sand in White Beach is entirely opposite in Sabang Beach. It is made of powdered sand that is so soft under the feet unlike the one in Sabang which is made of pebbles. I suggest better to wear your slippers or sandals all the time while walking here.

In White Beach, I enjoyed watching the poi and fire dancers. Like Boracay, I also saw white sand castles but I do not have a photo of that because there's a fee if you want to pose beside it and have a photo there.

It is only in Puerto Galera I have eaten "giant" grilled meat barbecues. I am used to the typical stick of barbecue here in Manila and other parts of the Philippines where it is made of sliced pieces of meat. Here in Puerto Galera, particularly in White Beach, one jumbo chicken, pork or one whole bangus barbecue paired with a cup of steamed rice is enough to call it a dinner.

RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS IN PUERTO GALERA

1. Bellevue Cottages Restaurant called Secret Garden Cafe
Bellevue Cottages is our accommodation during our stay in Puerto Galera. It is not beachfront but it is located on a higher land slope walking distance from Sabang beach. You'll have to brave walking the stairs made of 50 steps or more! What they have is not a restaurant but a small cafe serving their guests. However, I was impressed of the variety of food they have on their menu and the huge serving!  K loved his American breakfast while I loved my bangsilog. It is one of the cutest in-house restaurant of an accommodation I have ever seen. There's also a view of the mountains and seas.

2. Seashore Beach Restaurant
With its yellow background, you'll surely not going to have a hard time finding the in-house restaurant of Seashore Beach Resort. They have ample space for everyone looking for a beachfront dining experience in Puerto Galera. They offer combo meals at discounted rates and even serve some pinoy snack favorites that aren't available in other good restaurants in Puerto Galera. It is just weird they do not offer complimentary service water. You have to buy mineral water or any of their beverages.

3. That Shabu-shabu restaurant we forget the name but the taste and experience is so good!
On our first night, we had a really hearty shabu shabu dinner. For some reasons, we failed to remember nor took photos of the name of this shabu shabu restaurant in Puerto Galera. Owned by a Korean, they are always full every night. We know it because whenever we always pass by here the whole time we are in this island. The veggies were served fresh and of course the slices of beef are too die for - so pink and thin! We never expected the slices of yellow, not-so-ripe pumpkins can make our shabu-shabu dinner extra special.
