Rebranding of Corregidor's Day and Overnight Tours will Bring More Fun to this Historical Island

"It was in 2016 when I first visited Corregidor for the first time.  Three years have passed but I can still recall so much memories about this historical place. Corregidor is an island of fortress. It is here where thousands got killed - Filipinos, Americans and Japanese during World War II. Nowadays, it is made of stunning ruins of barracks, buildings and shelters that will forever remind us of so many lives that ended here. I see beauty from these ruins. Every piece of these rusty, dilapidated buildings tell a story exactly of what they have become after the war.  I super miss the buffet lunch here. Not every day, I don’t get to eat my meal in a veranda that offers a majestic view of lush trees, a seashore and nearby islands. I wished we should have stayed a little longer there and hopefully meet Kuya Armando, our very fun tour guide who has been doing this job for 20+ years in Corregidor. Hope to go back here soon and spend a night."

So much memories brought me about Corregidor during the launching of  rebranded tour packages that this historical island will offer this 2019 and onwards in partnership of TPB, TIEZA & Corregidor Foundation held in Conrad Hotel Manila. Expect a much better experience and more learning about this island full of history. Also, they’ll add other activities like glamping, sailing, trekking etc. It has been 3 years since I went here. It's really time to go back!

With the campaign, they seek to actively promote the island’s various attractions, such as middle-side barracks, battery grubs, Pacific war memorial complex, Cine Corregidor, Spanish lighthouse, Japanese garden of peace, Filipino heroes memorial, Malinta tunnel, and Lorcha dock. Beyond historical relics, the island boasts of a multitude of opportunities for every type of traveler to enjoy — biking, bird watching, camping, fishing, hiking, island runabout, and kayaking are just some of the fun activities in the island.

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Corregidor Foundation Inc. Chairperson and CEO Cynthia Carrion in spearheading the new strategic campaign, dubbed “Corregidor Now,” which aims to deliver a stronger and unified voice for the whole island, bringing it to greater heights as a tourism attraction. “For years, Corregidor Island seemed to be perceived solely as a popular historical site, with its idyllic features unknown to many,” Carrion said. “With our campaign, we hope that it will usher in a new era for this eco-historical location, making it known as a place of sanctuary where one can enjoy a relaxing opportunity to revel in the past.”
