The 2019 Irosin Paray Festival is just around the corner! The month of September in my hometown Irosin celebrates three wonderful activities that every Irosanon looks forward to partake: Irosin town fiesta, feast of Saint Michael the Archangel (Irosin's official patron saint) and Paray Festival. Formerly called Hin-ay Festival, Irosin is the rice granary of the whole province of Sorsogon.
According to Irosin History and Culture Facebook Fan Page, the town of Irosin was formerly called Pueblo de Yrocin. Gobernador General Domingo Muriones y Morillo gave this name on November 3, 1879. It is very interesting to know that Irosin actually celebrates its foundation day NOT September but NOVEMBER. This 2019, Irosin will be celebrating the 140th anniversary foundation.
