Vegan and Vegetarian Eateries You Have to Try in Metro Manila

Metro Manila offers many restaurants that serve all kinds of flavors, but it can be a challenge for non-meat eaters to find the perfect eatery that serves organic and purely plant-based foods. Don’t fret because the metro has caught on with the trend of vegan and vegetarian restaurants that are affordable, healthy, and delicious. Here are nine of the vegan and vegetarian restaurants around Metro Manila that you should try at least once.

The Wholesome Table

Founded by husband-and-wife tandem Juan and Bianca Elizalde, The Wholesome Table in Makati serves food purely made from fresh, organic, and natural ingredients. You can easily access the restaurant from your house for rent in Makati to try their famous Vegetarian burger with cheese and lettuce.

Susi

Located in the upscale Forbestown township in BGC, Susi is a gourmet vegan restaurant that serves soy-free, sugar-free, and gluten-free dishes. Their most iconic dish is Faux Gras, a foie gras-like dish made with smoked mushrooms, roasted garlic, and toast.

Cafe Mediterranean

Looking for Mediterranean flavors? Cafe Mediterranean serves organic Mediterranean food, such as their lentil burger and their selection of vegan pizzas and pastas. If you rent a house in Manila, you can take a jeep or UV to Malingap Street, Quezon City to try out this restaurant.

New Quan Yin Chay Vegetarian

Yes, this Chinese restaurant in the Old Chinatown in Binondo, Manila serves Filipino-Chinese vegetarian dishes ranging from stir-fried noodles to rice meals. The restaurant can be easily accessed through your house.

Green Bar Makati

If you are a fan of sandwiches, Green Bar Makati is the perfect resto for you. You can choose from their wide array of purely plant-based sandwiches, salads, wraps, and even burritos. You can take a jeep or UV express from your house to go to Green Bar Makati in Legazpi Village.

Mexicali

Mexican cuisine is known for their meat dishes, but Mexicali serves delicious and vegetarian dishes such as their Soyrizo (“chorizo” made with soy) and their Garden Burger. Mexicali has branches in Mandaluyong, BGC, and Quezon City, all of which are within a comfortable distance from your rented house in Makati or in Manila.

Pipino: Vegetarian Food By Pino

This Filipino vegan restaurant serves 100% vegan lasagna, mac and cheese, pesto, and their famous tofu sisig. For more than 20 years, Pipino has captured the hearts and taste buds of both non-meat and meat eaters.

Little India Healthy Cuisine

Yet another veggie restaurant in Malingap Street in Quezon City, Little India Healthy Cuisine serves iconic Indian dishes such as vegetable curry, samosas, pakoras, and South Indian masala and dosa.

Herbivora

Just like its namesake, Herbivora guarantees you they serve purely plant-based dishes, and is purely free from any preservatives, MSG, and animal products and by-products.

My two personally visited and highly recommended vegan restaurants

Veggie Guys

Veggie Guys is a modest dining spot or in our own words, more of a "pangmasang tagpuan" for friends, work buddies, and families who want to have a break of the same dishes or same types of tastes they eat at home. Its target market is not even vegans, vegetarians or those who are eating purely plant-based. The goal is to bridge the gap between people who want to transition to a healthier lifestyle and for foodies who want to eat comfort food.

Tip: Veggie Pata, Isaw, and Beanuguan are the bomb here all made of soy protein. The taste are very similar to the real version except no animal had to die just because we have to eat.

iVegan Restaurant

Serving Western food with a dash of Asian favorites, iVegan follows the philosophy of farm to table approach. Veggies, fruits, and the rest of ingredients are outsourced directly from partner farms in Tagaytay and Batangas. With a vibe of fine dining, this restaurant even has a private room that can accommodate up to ten persons. The delivery of their fruits and veggies happen every Thursday and Saturday. If you happen to dine during these days, you can ask the waiters/waitresses for off-menu dishes coming from what kinds of veggies and fruits they have in stock.

Tip: The real stars here are chickpea & lentil moussaka, quinoa sushi, and scallop. Do not leave without ordering any of their smoothies that are served with an edible straw made of cassava and flour. I recommend the banana oats and beets.

Whether you are a vegan or vegetarian looking for restaurants that cater to your diet, or simply a foodie wanting to explore non-meat dishes, Metro Manila has a wide plethora of restaurants that serve organic veggie dishes worth trying.
