Ibiza Spain, an island known for its prime location in the Mediterranean situated about one hundred and sixty kilometres off the coast of Spain. Perhaps more well known is its involvement as the hub of electronic dance music. Most come to Ibiza to party but there is so much more here than the parties. Here are our picks of best beaches to relax in between the parties.
Holiday Villas When staying in a magical place like Ibiza just a boring hotel or dilapidated guest house just won’t do. You must stay in an equally magical villa. Why not stay in a holiday villa and really enjoy the good life. Relax by your own private pool before the night out, or have the whole crew over for a fabulous dinner cooked by the personal chef. Stunning views of the coast await you every morning to say hello.
Benirras Beach Featuring beautiful sunsets, Benirras beach welcomes people from all backgrounds. Hippy and bohemian vibes radiate across the beach with friendly people and an anything goes attitude. A small cove with fishing shacks contrasts eloquently against the astounding physical beauty of the island. A bit more rustic and natural than some of the other hot tourist beaches, Benirras has coarse, rocky sand, and large rocks surrounding the crystal clear waters. Don’t discount this safe haven until you watch the spectacular sunset accompanied by the famous drum circle the locals put on. It’s definitely worth checking out, come rent a chair and umbrella, grab a snack from the chiringuitos walking around selling food and drink and relax!
The Beaches of Portinatx Next up is Portinatx, a family-friendly little town situated on the north side of the island. There are three main beaches here with all the beauty and amenities, S'Arenal Gros, with a few restaurants and chair rentals. S'Arenal Petit, and Playa Porto. These beaches are far less frequented by tourists. The largest beach is called S'Arenal Gros, the big brother to S'Arenal Petit. Both are beautiful, with large patches of white sand. The last beach is Playa Porto. A tiny little fishing village surrounded by cliffs creating a beautiful petite cove.
Cala Tarida Beach Cala Tarida is an alluring long beach with wide stretches of fine white sand. The blue green water is shallow and calm, perfect for walking out to the large flat rocks just off shore and just relaxing in the sun. The beach is quite populated, with a few cafes, restaurants and some beach chairs for rent. But mostly this is a beach to relax in the water or play in the sand. Snorkelling and other various water sports are also quite popular here and even beach volleyball.
Pou des Lleo Beach Just thirty minutes from Ibiza Town and north of Santa Eulalia is a quiet secret cove. A living photograph lifted from a travel brochure. With clear waters surrounded by red cliffs this spot is a popular diving and snorkelling destination. The infrastructure here is more basic than the others with only a small snack bar selling fresh fish and paella.
Ses Salines Beach For an even more remote and rugged beach with cafes and EDM music, then come to Ses Salines. The name comes from the salt flats and the very high salt content of the sea. The beach is wide and flat with powdery soft sand. Even given its remoteness Ses Salines can get quite crowded during the summer. A nature reserve is also located near the beach to protect the local wildlife and it’s definitely worth a visit. Everywhere you go along the beachfront you will hear DJs and their music. Music venues and even small shops put on music festivals here. So stop for a bit to have a listen and grab some snacks or drinks from the vendors walking up and down the beach.
