Kasanggayahan Festival of 2023 is now back in full bloom. Its celebration was postphoned during the height of pandemic. For this year, the calendar of activities of Sorsogon city's Kasanggayahan is bigger and way better! It feels like a sweet vengeance from the couple of years that the spirit of Kasanggayahan Festival was kept low key. The theme of Kasanggayahan Festival 2023 is "KOOPERASYON TUNGO SA PROGRESIBONG SORSOGON, UNA AN SORSOGON".
Kasanggayahan is an old Bikol word, the meaning of which can be gleaned from the short verse composed by Rev. Fr. Jose O. Ofrasio: “when the fields are green and the grains are golden; when the machines works well and all business prosper; when the birds in the sky chirp freely, and men on earth are peacefully happy; in Bikol, it is KASANGGAYAHAN, meaning, a life of prosperity.

Why do Sorsoganon's celebrate Kasanggayahan Festival? This is to commemorate the official separation of Sorsogon province from Albay where it was part of previously. This 2023, it has been 129 years already since this happened.
