What have I been up to in the first month of January 2024? See below:
I started the year with a foot spa in Ecstatic Salon, a pet-friendly spa in Guadalupe, Makati. This is also the same pet-friendly salon where I had a hair cut, hair botox and hot oil two years ago. I love the service and the rates suit my budget that is why I went back and I think I will still come back here for more.
The first weekend of 2024 brought me to Greenfield's Weekend Market which is also a pet-friendly destination. Honestly, we were already full when we came here so we only ordered drinks. I and a good friend of mine came in two hours earlier. We are already hungry so we ate in Domino's Pizza within Greenfield District. I was looking for a plantbased kind of pizza and I was surprised Domino's Pizza has great options. I recommend Spinach and Feta - so delish! It is made of cream cheese, mozzarella, spinach, feta cheese, Havarti cheese, parmesan cheese, mayonnaise and garlic seasoning. And oh, did I mentioned they also serve milk tea? I never thought pizza and milk tea is also perfect match!
Every Tuesday and Thursday are my gym days. After my one hour session, I make sure to dine out. My first discovery is a pet-friendly rooftop cafe in BGC inside R.O.X. BGC. To my surprise, it is a joint-force of two brands: Kaulayaw Cafe (serving drinks) and Outdoor Gringos (serving food). I went there without my furbaby but definitely when I come back up, will bring Ollie!
I finally received a go signal to send my Skisopgo pet stroller. It was a dream stroller that I was planning to gift to my dog on or before Christmas in 2023. However, it was bulky and very heavy when received it personally. I knew this is not the fault of the seller because I should have researched more about this product before I purchased. There is also nothing wrong with the product but this Skisopgo pet stroller works for those who have a car, live in condo with an elevator and can carry heavy stuff. These are all contrary to myself. I commute usually via Angkas or Joyride with my furbaby who I place inside a pet carrier bag that I put on my lap. I needed a super lightweight but still comfy for my furbaby, within my budget of Php 5k and if possible, when folded I can still take Angkas or Joyride. I hate taking Grab because of it is quite expensive for me as a solo commuter with a furbaby and I hate getting stuck in traffic.
I love to eat out. When my dog is not with me, I have the freedom to eat anywhere. One favorite of mine that I have visited twice already is Tsokolateria Artisanal Cafe in SM Aura. I am crazy about their roasted pumpkin with quezong puti soup served with bread sticks, dark cholate dip. The first time, I chose the Classic hot tsokolate served in rustic tsokolateria and warm, crispy croissant. I am a fan of dark chocolates and the good old cup of hot tsokolate that I used to drink when I was a child in Bicol that is usually served during holidays. Now, I can come here anytime I want (as long as it is open) and reminisce my childhood days.
An out of town trip to Tagaytay with a group of content creators came unexpectedly. A favorite place of mine, Tagaytay is now a haven of many pet-friendly accommodations. In fact, the reason why I said yes because the private resort in Tagatay is pet-friendly so I was able to bring my furbaby. If you wanna check it out, click HERE my review of The Hidden Mansion in Tagaytay.
Because I vowed that I will treat myself to good food every after workout, I found myself inside The Food Market BGC. Unfortunately this time, it is not as good as my above experiences. The French onion soup was too salty. The truffle cream pasta gave me an umay effect after just a few bites. Don't get me wrong - the servings are big here but maybeI just chose the wrong ones. Will I come back here? Sure, maybe try their buffets the next time around.
Somerset Millenium Makati, another pet-friendly hotel just opened its indoor pet park. The first weekend was a celebration inviting brands that sell pet products and services including Pawssion Project. In the first day, I was able to join tagging along my furbaby. I bought a lot as usual to support local pet brands and most of all, I donated a Php 1k cash to one of the dogs under the care of Pawssion Project. This amount is enough since I also feed 1 stray dog and 6 stray cats staying in the parking area and vacant lots in our building.
My January is great except that I was SCAMMED by people selling Dok Apo Herbal Products right inside the mall of Market Market BGC located third floor. They will at first offer you FREE body massage and even chiropracty all while cold selling their products which is typical to businesses but there were two things I wished I knew before I agreed buying there products:
1. It is OVERPRICED. For example, the eye drop costs Php 750 but when I went home then checked Lazada and Shoppee, it only costs Php 250!
2. FDA has released an official warning that their products are NOT FDA approved. However, their products have fake FDA numbers printed!
I paid Php 5, 000+ for a set of Dok Apo herbal products:
- Dok Apo Healing G tablets that says with FDA LTO no. CFRR-RIV-FM-3333 on the label
- Dok Apo Miracle Healing Lotion that says with DTI no. 03680093 and FDA LTO no. 3000004416239
It is sad to know why a reputable mall like Ayala Malls Market Market permit bogus companies like Dok Apo to operate inside their premises!
That's it for the first month of January. Hope to continue this thing because it makes me reflect how I spent my time like which ones are worth it and which ones are not.
